“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18)

When I was younger I read the book Do Hard Things by Alex Harris. Well kinda, by read I mean my mom bought it for me in middle school and it collected dust on my nightstand. I was more interested in playing video games than reading, but then again aren't most middle schoolers. Looking back I can tell you it would have been much more beneficial for me to spend that time picking up that book than the controller. However, I think we all fall short in this area. How many times have you watched tv for hours, spent half your morning searching your phone, or the most popular sleep in till noon on a saturday.

We face choices like this every day. Sometimes It takes to sacrifice to make the right one. This is true with our relationship with God as well. It may be easier to kick you feet up after a long day of work instead of reading your bible. It's easier to talk to your friend about the ball game last night, than how his relationship is with the lord.

Now our suffering is nothing compared to those of John the Baptist, Peter or Jesus. However, that doesn't mean we won't have to make sacrifices in our lives. Though sometimes our sacrifices can seem minimal compared to those in the bible that doesn't mean there not important. These sacrifices can lead to greater rewards even if it doesn't seem that way in the short term. I can't tell you how many times i read a verse at night only to see how it relates to my life the next day. So remember make the sacrifice, can yield you greater rewards than time just wasted.
